About Us

Luv-A-Kid is located just three miles from the Pinehurst traffic circle convenient to Pinehurst, Southern Pines, West End and all the surrounding areas.

We offer programs for ages 2-5 during the school year and ages 2-8 during the summer program. Our hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 am-5:30pm.

We have a highly qualified staff with small classroom sizes of 10-15 students in order to devote quality time to each and every student.

Luv-A-Kid was opened four years ago as a true labor of love by the Thomas family. Our director Denise Thomas has a passion and drive for learning and strives to instill this passion and drive in every child that comes through our doors. Denise is a proud mother of four and has had a love for children and teaching her whole life. She began her career in Montessori teaching 15 years ago in a private school and eventually moved into the public school system where she always kept the Montessori Method in all of her teachings. But she always had a dream of opening her own preschool where she could prepare children for their future. The opportunity came three years ago to do this and Denise, with the help of her husband Rusty and the support of her four children jumped at the chance.

Since Luv-A-Kid opened its doors in 2005 we have strived to be the best. Luv-A-Kid is one of only a handful of preschools in North Carolina that offers ChildrenView, a secure streaming video system throughout the school that parents can view anytime from our website.

Each day the children are taught many valuable lessons.

Kindness, by caring for the many animals at our school, Horton our bunny, Bugsy our guinea pig as well as our roosters and chickens.

Etiquette, by always eating off of dishes during meals, using proper utensils and linen napkins.

Independence, by being taught lessons and then left to explore and learn on their own and at their own pace. Serving themselves during meal times and cleaning up after themselves when finished.

Responsibility by keeping and maintaining a vegetable and herb garden year round.

Respect by the staff always treating the children as equals, the teachers sit at their same level as well as sitting and talking with them during meal times.

These are just a few of the many things we strive to teach our children. At Luv-A-Kid we treat our children and their families as our own and have an open door policy meaning parents can come to the school at anytime unannounced and are welcome to stay as long as they like. Nurturing the education and personal growth and development of our students is our mission.
